I keep thinking of the famous scene from “The Wizard of Oz” — “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain! The great Oz has spoken!” It’s the perfect mix of hubris and stupidity for Holmes to think she wouldn’t be found out for the charlatan that she is — that no one would see behind her curtain of blood.
The combination of blue eyes, black turtleneck, and the promise of getting in on the ground floor of life-saving, never-before-heard-of technology was too good for those billionaires to pass up. I only wonder what her end game was — did she think she’d somehow invent what she lied to others about? At least the great Oz confessed that he was "a good man, but a bad wizard."
